Christina you look just GORGEOUS in this video ๐ also great advice, thank you and Happy New Year ๐
1:53 You popped into my mind yesterday when getting dressed to go run errands, and I put together a white tee, straight leg cotton jeans, & my newly thrifted wool blazer, cute sneakers, a scarf, a little necklace. Very neutral & basic but the structure of the blazer especially made the outfit. And the accessories pop a lot more when thereโs a solid outfit underneath, not just layers of fabric.

The overuse of “expensive” as an aesthetic descriptor on social media is misguided on multiple levels. “Expensive” is a market term โ it speaks to price and perceived value, not beauty or style. There are far richer adjectives for describing aesthetics: refined, elegant, luxurious, opulent. Beyond that, telling a woman she should “look expensive” carries an unfortunate connotation, evoking a certain transactional profession rather than a compliment. And the word “look” makes it worse – it implies performance and pretense, the appearance of something one is not. True aesthetic quality doesn’t perform wealth; it simply has presence.
